Colorado Springs, located in El Paso County, is nestled at the base of the iconic Pikes Peak. Long characterized by its large military presence, including the United States Air Force Academy and a number of military bases, Colorado Springs is also home to a bustling high-tech industry and numerous tourist attractions.
Like any large industry, the city’s health care system is characterized by competition; however, the strong culture and history of collaboration amongst regional leaders and organizations has proven to be an even more powerful force. Colorado Springs has robust health care systems, with multiple hospitals and a number of private and safety net provider groups. A large majority of Colorado Springs residents are covered by insurance and consider themselves in good health. The city faces some health challenges common to urban settings up and down Colorado’s Front Range, including pockets of very low-income and uninsured residents.
